The Houses of Laguna Stars, Continued

Last time, we dove into the histories behind some of Laguna Beach’s most notable celebrity homes. We wanted to take this week to talk about some of the houses we couldn’t fit into the last episode. So without further ado, here we go:

Warren Buffet
It should come as no surprise that legendary investor and former Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett once owned a vacation home in Laguna Beach. Specifically, it’s located in the heart of Emerald Bay. This sprawling, yet sparse mansion was built in the 1930s and is testament to the fact that while money can’t buy class, class can cost quite a bit of money. Indeed, Buffett originally listed the home at $11 million in 2017, but then lowered the asking price to $7.47 million in 2018. For reference, Buffett and his wife Susan originally purchased the property for just $150,000 in 1971. Talk about a long-term investment!

Lori Loughlin & Mossimo Giannulli
Full House and Fashion: is there a better fit for Laguna Beach? The actress-clothing mogul duo owned this 3-bed, 2-bath Craftsman mansion-cottage until around 2010, when they sold it for about $12 million. Like Warren Buffett, the couple also resided in Emerald Bay (specifically, on Smithcliffs Road). Unfortunately, Loughlin and Giannulli are now more infamous than famous thanks to a certain college entrance scandal in the past decade. But we can remember what they once were, right?

Robert Englund
1428 Elm Street might have been home to a nightmare, but Laguna Beach is Robert Englund’s dream. Yes, that’s right: Robert Englund of A Nightmare on Elm Street fame lives in Laguna Beach! According to Englund himself, he’s always seen himself as a Laguna-ite. After visiting the town in his youth, he and his wife moved to Laguna in 1989 — the same year as when the first Elm Street film showed in theaters. Englund’s career of terrorizing theatergoers as Freddy Krueger and other horror icons spanned nearly 20 years. Contrary to his theatrical performances, Englund is a quiet, laid-back man; when he’s not hosting horror podcasts or keeping to himself, Englund enjoys hanging out with friends and bodysurfing. We can’t say exactly where Mr. Englund lives, but imagine him relaxing in a cozy cottage nestled in the hills of Bluebird Canyon and you have a good idea of how the esteemed actor spends his days. You deserve it, good man!
